Hi all
my first post
i am looking for a relatively cheap (£450 max price, i think thats about $900.) guitar for gigging, i was looking into Ibanez because we play prog/metal stuff, and i've heard they are good for metal. (never had a wammy bar either so that would definitely be a plus!)
wondered if you guys had any suggestions :)

thanks!

I would say Ibanez is a good choice, never had one but could be a good try, on the other hand, shecter has some pretty cool guitars on the price range, and to be honest in my personal taste, whammys are fun for some time but tunning and changing strings is a living hell at least for me.

I would recomend the shecter Hellraiser (7 string model)... I want that guitar sooo bad, it's around the 700 US dollars price tag and it's a complete beauty.

Hope the advice helps a bit.

Rock on bro.
Power corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat.

For Metal, If you want a guitar with very high-output pickups and humbuckers with lots of sustain, i would agree with the Ibenez. Also, trems can be a very good extra skill. But if you tune down, because of there locking system you cant tune it down. and if you manage to tune it down, its hard to tune it up. this is mainly on a floyd rose tho... my brother over come this by adding spring in the back, but this makes the trem hard, so i'd look into this.

I'd go Ibanez, but have a known bias. For the £450 you could get a used JS1000, and that would be my recommendation...

Floyd trems... you either love 'em or hate 'em....

I also have a fetish for Ibanez, get the best model you can for the money - check out E-Bay and ONLY deal with Power Sellers that can guarantee the guitar is setup. If possible it should have a good set of Dimarzio pickups, not the stock Ibz/Dmz's. If you can get a used JS1000 for £450 I would jump on it! Just make sure the frets aren't worn down and that the neck is in good condition - ask all the right questions before bidding, good luck!
