Hi,

I want to get my boyfriend something for Christmas that has to do with guitars. He just got all this stuff to set up a recording studio in his basement and has 8 guitars (I think?). He has the money to get anything he would want but I want to get him something special but... I know NOTHING about guitars (except that I have one and I have no idea how to play it :P)

Anyways, any help is appreciate!!

Thanks,
Katie

How much do you wanna spend? Nice toys are either an e-bow or the new 'pocket PODxt' - if that's too expensive then maybe a guitar repair/maintenance kit ('lemon oil' for the fretboard, 'roadie wrench' - has all the specialist alan keys/spanners and screw drivers, 'fast fret' for cleaning strings). I've got a load of guitars and would love if my wife got me a present of any of that stuff!

My mom got me a pick made out of Jasper a little while back. A few of picks made out of various stone would be nice, and he'd probably like that. I;m actually gonna go search Google now and see what other kinds are out there.

My girlfriend got me a 'smokey' amp... They're about £25 / $50 I think.

I've got a load of gear too, and I'd never have got one myself but it's very cool and fits in my guitar case so I can play amplified anywhere. If he has the money to get whatever he wants, you need to go left-field and think of something he doesn't know he wants... ;)

The roadie wrench is also a great idea... saves looking for allen keys and screwdrivers... all the tools are there when you need them. I agree with Superhuman... he's just going to love that you got him something guitar-related...

Sounds like he's pretty lucky to be with a girl that supports his interests. I agree with the others - you're gonna have to go left field. But I am sure that he'll appreciate anything you were to get him. :)

Do you think he'd like custom guitar picks? Like ones with words on them? I know he uses them but I don't know what... style? Is there a certain style or just personal preference. He calls me "Bug a boo" (lol :)) So I could get ones that say "Bug a boo loves you!" He'd get a kick out of that I think :)

Picks are a personal thing.... you can get them made out of all sorts of things in all sorts of thicknesses and shapes.

They are also fairly fragile, so if you're thinking about that, it might be worth getting a metal one and having it engraved. If you buy plastic and he uses it, it won't last long....

I've seen silver ones about that are pretty cool. You can get them made into jewellery too... not sure about that myself, but hey.... it's an option...
