amplifier settings

hey there, just starting with the guitar but really not sure how to get the differernt sounds that i want for example the mission impossible video , when i play it sounds nothing like it .
not sure on the exact model of my amp just know its a new marshal 50w with effects built in and the distorion settings and what not .
