acoustic15, it all depends what you wanna play.

Playing guitar is just like having a job. You'll like it if you have more things you like about it than things you hate. So the first thing you wanna address is, What do i want to play?

You were saying that you've been playing for a couple of months, that's great! Keep it up. My question is what have you liked the most so far?

From what I read in your post you'd like to learn how to read music and play songs.

If you have full access here you can read Christopher Schlegel on reading music. It should tell you everything you need.

As far as playing songs, you say you know chords. Awesome! A song can often be broken down into chord progression and strumming patterns. You have the basic knowledge to start working on these two. Strumming pattern will work on your right hand while chord progression will focus on your left hand.

Practicing chord progression will help you learn songs more easily. Most beginner's know their chords but have a difficult time moving from one to another. You want to work on that.

Also, when you have a few strumming pattern behind your belt, you'll be able to recognize what the guitar player is doing. It's going to be a lot easier to remember a rhythm if you can understand the chord progression and the strumming patterns.

Some lessons on strumming patterns :

I'm not sure if you have access to the lessons on GT but if you don't, I hope I was able to a least point you in the right direction.

Keep it up, learning guitar is all about dedication and passion
