Just an alternate suggestion, but if you can't afford the real thing like a classic amp that SRV used etc..., you might try getting a small combo amp and a decent effects processor with amp emulators built in.
For instance, with a small amp and a Boss GT-8 you could get just about any sound you want including pretty good simulations of all the classic amps like Vox, Mesa/boogie, Marshall, Twin Reverbs etc... as well as any sized speaker combination and even pickup simulations..ie, single pole to humbucker etc..... not to mention the thousands of other effects you get with it too.
