I love my LP Custom but I'm learning the hard way that cracks in the headstock are "common" - and Gibson does not cover it under warranty because they're quite sure I caused it. I'm sure everyone says this - but I didn't cause anything. I have a mexican strat that's been abused and has no problems. My Gibson leads a very comfortable life. Has anyone else had issues with Les Paul headstock cracks?

The finish on the headstock of my LP Classic is cracked and starting to peel in one small place...

Is this what your referring to, or is the wood cracking?

My friends LP had the headstock snapped, but that was slaughtered during a coast to coast flight. :(

No, its down into the wood - looks like it cracked along the wood's grain - sorta V shaped. The repair guy wasnt suprised - says he sees it a lot which makes me wonder. I feel good knowing that if they put the neck on backwards they'll warantee it for life. I'm glad I filled out that little card.
