So I've just logged onto the internet for the first time in two weeks - the cables got damaged in a storm, and Telstra, the newly-privatised-and-layoff/restructuring-crippled telecom that we're serviced by, took two weeks to repair it, when all that needed to happen was that a ladder be erected and two cables replaced. Even the guy who did it today said so. I thought I'd be frustrated at the delay, but it turns out that I'm only ecstatic about having my internet and phone lines back. So I'll forgive the government for their ill-advised privatisation scheme after all.

Here's to convenient memory loss and digitally imposed inertia! :D

Welcome back. I was wondering where you'd got to.

I'm thinking about switching to Optus - true, it'll be an evil corporation, but at least it'll be an evil corporation that can be bothered to fix its own equipment! :D

Yeah, I'm okay, the storm was bad but not destructive out my way. It was pretty horrific in the city, though. Any destruction in Vic?
