This is more of a personal thing from me to him, so I wanted the music to be from me. I only listen to Heavy Metal, so don't worry about if the music is "appropriate". The message is whats important, not the sound. The only one that comes to mind right now for me is Megadeth's "A Tout Le Monde" (many people think its about suicide, but it isn't. Dave said he wrote it to express what he would say to everyone if he could say something before he died.) So if anyone has any suggestions or favorite songs about this subject, let's hear em.
Need a song recommendation.

This is kind of a strange question to ask but I was thinking about it today. My Uncle just passed away this afternoon, so I've been with my family all day. Long story short, music is the main thing in my life, so I've been trying to think of songs that deal with this sort of issue (dying/passing away). The positive side of it of course. A few funerals that I've been to in the past have made videos of the person with pictures of them and family, ect. I was trying to think of background music that I could use if I were to make a video for him.

"Watching Over Me" by Iced Earth popped in my head immediatley. It is a really beautiful song, Jon Schaffer wrote it about his friend who died in a motorcycle accident.

I'll go through my Ipod and find a few more good ones.
Edit: "Cemetary Gates" by Pantera is another great one.

A few that might work...
CSNY-Carry On
Cortez the Killer, by whoever does a good version (They are all good IMO) I dunno about how the lyrics connect to your situation, but it couldn't be any more mellow and laid back.
Gov't Mule-Soulshine
Arc Angels-See What Tomorrow Brings
James Taylor-Fire and Rain
Pink Floyd-Wish You Were Here
Trey Anastasio-Shine
You should check these out... I don't really know the mood you're going for, although I can only imagine what I would want in it. Really sorry about what happened man.
Oh, sorry, I just read that you only listen to heavy metal. Still check these out though. You might find that one fits the situation well. Oh, and a "heavier" one I considered was Joe Bonamassa- Had To Cry Today

Bright Eyes- Easy/Lucky/Free
I doubt you'd have heard this song, but seriously, search for the lyrics online, then get the song! It's the best song in the history of ever...no jokes...and the only thing that kept me going when my dad was murdered

Hope Leaves and To Bid You Farewell - Opeth
Very sad songs, but I think you could relate to them.
