gday,
can someone please fill me in on what that paint is that lines cavities, I presume its some sort of metallic thing re electronic stuff, whats its called and where does one get it from?...does it serve some sort of shielding purpose?...I want to paint a design over it and make up some transparent cavity covers so I just want to take out the old paint and do a neater job of it etc..

I use Super Shield, made by MG Chemicals. Its a nickel based paint that's easy to use, and doesn't cost the earth.

Mind, that's a relative term. Here in Calgary, its carried by Active Components for about CDN$36 for a 12 oz. spray can. Enough to do 4 - 6 guitars.

You can't solder to this stuff, but you can make a good connection with a wire and a screw & washer.

Good luck! :)
