if the problem is with the fretting left hand, or coordinating the two hands, just ask.

I have a question about wrist picking that did not occur to me untill today:

I do use my elbow to position my hand, then alternate pick on whichever string, but is the wrist actually moving? For example, I held my right arm with my left hand and tried to move my wrist. I found that my right wrist actually cannot move fast at all, rather when my wrist moves normally my forearm rotates. My elbow does not move at all, yet the arm rotates. Is that normal?

also, I found when practicing left handed motions, that if I practiced dead stopped at each position in an excersize and move each finger to its next location (buffering, if you will) that I could up my speed very quickly, maxing out in as little as a couple days. This works fine when economy picking, but when I do alternate picking, the timing gets all screwed up. What should I do in general to increase left handed speed?

This also leads me to believe that maybe theres a problem with my alternate picking, so I looked closely and found that my 3-fingered grip limits my picking angle to nilch. While this is comfortable and gives a very clean sound, building speed with it is almost impossible.

that last one is what caused me to give up for the day, as I put in at least 8 hours yesterday and 10 the day before. Sorry for the bad grammar, but im a tad frustrated at the moment ; D I found that eliminating tension goes a long way, but only took me so far

any help is greatly appreciated
