Trem. Bar

HI. I've been playing guitar for 3 years and have recently been getting into some Eddie Van Halen and Rhandy Rhoads stuff. I want to know how to use the trem. bar. I know it's a dumb question but I'm not into all the tech. stuff, I just play songs and make songs. Thanks a lot.

play a note....or a chord
pull up on the bar to raise the pitch
push down on the bar to lower the pitch.

listen to some steve vai for accurate control
of the bar..
listen to jimmy hendrix. star spangled banner to
hear the "dive bombs"...pushing teh bar so far forward
that the strings go slack and flop all over the pickups..
(i think? is that how he did it?)

tuning could be a problem...for some people..
search the posts for a thread on this.
someone makes a product that will hold your trembar
in place while you tune (others suggest a shim) (piece of wood?)
and restring one string at a time....tune em a little flat..so that you can tune up to correct pitch...
(dont give up so fast on the trem bar..once you tame it....its fun)

Doesn't that put a lot of stress on the hole that you put the bar in? If i push down too hard I hear little cracks. I don't know if this is bad. Please reply. Thanks

im not sure about that one..i guess professionals dont have to worry about it because they have such good stuff and good guitar techs...or they just get a new one...but for us people with one or two guitars....hmmmm
im not sure to tell you the truth...

but if you unscrew the cover plate in the back of your guitar you might find the springs that hold your wammy bar in place...so when you push the bar forward..it stretches the strings placing them in tension..and the screws that hold the springs in place....i assume would be causing the creaking noise in the wood?

if it's of concern to you...just practice on the more finesse type of playing with the wammy bar...
i still find it very cool when an artist can have such control over that bar...
