Seriously? Never heard that before. I guess what I'm picking up from this rather lively debate is that you have to go out and play a bunch of different ones to find the one that fits what you're looking for regardless of the brand name. That's good advice too since I think I have convinced myself that you have to spend $1000 for a good guitar to be content with the sound. Not true, I'm guessing. Hmm. See, you can teach an old dog new tricks...

I'm going to have to take a look at t Squire. I've always sort of ignored them before.

I would have to disagree from what I've seen, but I think we get the point. Although, If you can find the info to back it up, I would be very glad to check it out.

I never said he was a great guitarist. However, he is an amazing blues musician. He can write the hell out of a song, and has lots of emotion in his playing. He's also got one of my favorite blues tones.

It's all very personal, and there's no such thing as "the best" guitar. Nobody's hands are exactly the same, nor do people hear things the same way.

Basically, what I'm saying is, this is just another pointless thread  (no offense to the original poster ;) )

Yeah, his tone and my experience with squire would lead me to blelieve this is a quite un-amusing practical joke.

well, it may not be accurate, but the suggestions that SRV played squire are not hard to find, and his guitars are acknowledged to be mongrels anyway.

I've no idea, but I like the story. Also for the record, I have a squire strat in the collection, and it's cool... It's also not a practical joke, as there was no practical element... ;)

Meh, you know what I was getting at. :D I guess I don't really doubt it as much as it would just dissapoint me to know that the tone that I envy so much came from a cheap Squier. A friend of mine has a Tobias bass which cost him about $1,500, which is out of this world for a bass. He started playing this kids cheap squier bass, and actually liked the feel of it. So who knows.
