Hello,

I'm not sure where to post this. I hope this is the right area. Will it do any harm to an amp to use it at a low volume setting? Is it better to have the amp turned up and the vol. on the guitar turned down or vice versa?

No. You can set the volume on either any way your heart desires. Though with a tube amp, its good to crank it because thats when the good tone kicks in.

As elklandercc has stated no. You cannot do harm to any amp by playing at low volume. Your tone may suffer but not the amp.
