Hello, All!!

Just a howdy from a new subscriber, and total newbie on the guitar. Well not a total newbie, but just about. I'm a 42 year old man near Los Angeles with 3 kids, wonderful wife, etc., who finally decided to do something about my dream to learn to play the git-fiddle. I currently have an acoustic guitar, sorry it's not here now, so I can't tell you the type  , but steel-string basic, and a Stagg g300 GC, which I love. I'll be working with the guitar player from the worship band at my church to learn basic acoustic stuff, and how to play the songs we play, but joined up here to learn some of the fun electric stuff.

I would ask, since I'm just beginning the "absolute beginner" lessons, is there anything on this sight showing tabs, etc. to contemporary Christian or Christian Worship music? Or if anyone has some suggestions on where to find that sort of thing, please let me know, as I'd really love to play a bunch of that (eg. Maranatha or Vineyard worship, old Petra, Phil Keagy, Stryper, Whiteheart, Casting Crowns, etc., etc., and soforth!!!!!

Well, gonna go ahead and see if I can learn something now. I look forward to corresponding with some of you. Have a terriffic morning, evening, whatever it is when you read this! ;)

Tom

Man, Petra....I haven't heard about them in years. I had a demo tape of theirs back in the 90s when I was just a junior....

Anyways, welcome.

Try this out for Petra tabs:

Hello Tom. Welcome to GT. Great site and plenty of good, helpful folks who are always happy to help. Nice to see another 'senior' 'round here! :) (I'm 46 and have only been playing for a couple of years now...) Enjoy!

Welcome to GT. I don't think we have any tabs for christian stuff, but we do have some folk song lessons which will be just as good.

Hello, again, all,

First of all, thank you elklandercc, Leedogg, PRSplaya, hunter60 (by the way, do you happen to play WoW? ;) ), grizzlymint, mdaddict, for the welcome! I do appreciate it.

I checked out the sights you provided, and I'll spend much quality time at them once I feel a bit more comfy with the basics. Great stuff! I'm working on the "absolute beginner" page now, and having some great fun with it!

That's about it, just wanted to say "thanks for the welcome and replies!!"

I'm sure I'll see you all around on the forums!!!!

Well, hunter, I'm off to take my geritol and maybe take out the git-fiddle for a bit!!!

Peace,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Nope, not a WOW player but I just may check it out one of these days. I'm not a Geritol kinda-guy but I do find a nice cold can of Ensure seems to hit the spot at the end of a hard day...

Glad to see that you're enjoying the site. I know for myself, GT has become a second home. Happy playing!

Oh my goodness, Jeff, you've cut me to the quick!!! Calling me Sir!!! Now I really DO wanna go have some Geritol and a cup of Ensure!!!!

Hunter, just thought you may be a WoW player because of your screen name. It's a great game, but takes a lot of time sometimes. I rarely go online and play now, because I'm spending more time with my guitar! If you decide to play, budget time wisely, or you can get consumed!!

Well, enough for now!
Peace,
Tom
