Ever think you know the words to a song, but then find out you were way off in some parts?
I remember one from a long time ago, that I still find quite humorous when I hear that song today...Misty Mountain Hop-Led Zeppelin
"Just then a policeman stepped up to me asked us said, "please, hey would we care..."
Before reading the lyrics I always heard hey whoopie cat.
Heck, I just assumed it was some kinda British or hippie phrase. Of course once you know, it almost seems distinctly clear!

Until just now, I thought that's what he was saying too.

My brother used to think in "All Along the Watchtower," Jimi was singing "Aww Lord Lord the washtowel."

And in this Nirvana song called "Return of the Rat," he always heard "towel rack."

I don't know what it is with him and towels.

All the time, I'm actually pretty bad when it comes to listening or remembering lyrics. I have to either read the lyrics over a few times, or play it to death while driving. One I especially remember is Brian Setzer's Jump, Jive, N' Wail I think its called. I use to think he said "and you aint gotta....drunk driver.... Then one day, my cousin had it playing, laughed at me for what I was signing then corrected me. That was, shhhew, back in 97 or 98.
"During this line, the kid acted like he was pushing buttons on a calculator in the air. The kid played ******* air-calculator!"

In CCR's 'Bad Moon Rising', I always thought they were singing 'There's a bathroom on the right..." when I was a kid. :)

I was a stupid kid. Hmm. Haven't gained a whole lotta ground since. :D

Still to this day, in the song "Blinded by the light", the line that goes "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night." always sounds like "wrapped up like a douche, under the cover of the night."

from "Heartbreaker" by Zep
"one thing I do have on my mind, if you can clarify please do, the way you call me another guys name when I try to make love to you" I would not sing or just do a skibble-de-boo-bop-boo over the "if you can clarify please do" part --also how about..."with a purple umbrella and a WTF???" is it "50 cent hat"???
but with a band who has lyrics like "I saw a lion he was standin' alone with a tadpole in a jar" how ya gonna know what is right, especially with Plant articulation

Remember Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers" song? There's a breathy female chorus singing the title in French (jeux sans frontiers), but so many people insisted they were saying "she's so popular".

Yeah, Blinded By the Light is in there for myself as well.

I remember last year coming home from the Satch concert at some ridiculous hour and that song was on the radio. After that night, my rooomate decided he was gonna play that song as much as possible for some odd reason. Now we've got the lyrics including parts such as "With a boner on your shoulder", "Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche another boner in the night." So on and so forth.

That's hilarious! Even the Springsteen version doesn't clear up the lyrics. That one always confused me as well.

Check this sucker out.

One of my favourites is in "Dirty Deeds" by AC/DC, someone thought they were saying "Dirty deeds in the thunder jeep."

That's cool...I'd heard about a site dedicated to this, but had never seen it or bothered to look. And their entry for Misty Mountain Hop heard it the same too, hehe.

Last night I was listening to the Rolling Stones, and I realized that at the beginning of "Street Fighting Man," I always thought Mick was saying "Everywhere I hear the sound of Marge and George and B-Boy." Turns out it's "marching charging feet, boy."
