Go to a couple of stores, try a lot of pedals, and see what you like best. I'de stay away from DOD though- I've had bad luck with them, as have most of my friends.

You can use a turbo overdrive by Boss. Its suonds great, and I listened that it is SatrianiĀ“s pedal
or you can try with the Jackhammer by Marshall.
good luck Rockatron

some say D.O.D.s are chicken but I think it depends upon your mixes...if your a metal shrrrrrredderrrr, try the D.O.D. DEATH METAL!!! and better try to get a harder pick.....BUT if you want some DIGITAL ****, the
DIGETECH RP6 is sure a metal maniac.....it's what i'm abusing right now and it really takes you to HELL!!!

You might wanna try two of the Boss pedals. The black one gets a screamin distortion, but the orange one isnt as extreme. Also, if you have an amp with an extra speaker output (Some of the bigger Crates and Marshalls have them), you can plug some crappy little amp that has distortion into it, add any kind of distortion pedal and it'll sound pretty cool. I do that with the Crate GFX212 and a Squier amp.

Man, if your amp does not have a overdrive channel, forget it. but if it does, try Epiphone GAS pedals. iĀ“ve got one. its just written "overdrive GAS" in it, and it gives you a distortion as heavier as sepultura and brujeria. TIP: if youĀ“re going to solo, try to saturate your overdrive channel... youĀ“re gonna marry this pedal after you solo with it...

Although it might look like I have an amp without distortion in my previous post, I was suggesting using another amps distortion AS WELL as that already on your amp. But as phymozzy says, if your amp doesnt have distortion on it, forget it.

i have been through so much equipment in the heavy metal scene to the point were i can say. if you want screams the boss metal zone will give it to you plus the durability of solid steel.

if your looking for a sound kinda like bolt thrower, carcass that type of sound I would recommend dod death metal pedal, and a dod eq boost the lows and the highs and take the mids all the way out for playing heavy chords but if you want to play fast and solo I'd boost the mids and dump a little of the highs

The best distortion I got so far is from Digitech... Look ino that great effects too. I'm using RP-14 now and I'm very happy with it.
Rock on.

I have a an Ibanez TS9DX (Turbo Tube Screamer). In addition to the classic TS9 setting it has 3 other settings; +, hot, and turbo that increasingly add more bottom and crunch. It sounds kick ass.

i would use a BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone. you just gotta mess around with the highs lows and mids to get a good sound... i like to turn the mids all the way off and everything else up.. it sounds really awesome
