Hey,

Sometimes (like now), I have a really difficult time thinking of subjects or themes to write songs on. Any advice?
Don't worry. I shred.

I usually dream about something and wake up with a line or two of the song in my head and then I go from there. I always start with the words, sing the words (the melody), then I write the music (solo & chords). I put in the licks last.

It's pretty easy for me that way, however, everyone is different.

what ive learned is that its hard to write a song about a thing that is always just a thing, such as a spoon. Youd end up writing a song such as this:

Spoons
Raven Xalus

The deadly shining curve
With a handle thats dripping blood
It is the spoon of doom!
With its spoon army of death.......

See what I mean? If you try to make a story about a couple of boring things like a book, spoon, fork, drawer, etc. then it'll turn out weird and probably won't be your style.

Write a song about a true historical event, or an event you made up. Thats what I always do. Or, just write about something that happened to you, bad or good. Just write whatever you want to write, and it'll be good. Don't go around "hey a pencil, should I write a song about it?" cause its lame and it dont got no game. So write whatever "floats your boat" (grizzlymint).

(oh, I actually wrote that song up there)
Like a phoenix rising from the flames...

...so shall the epic journey unfold as we discover our ancient future and craft legends through fire and flight.

This is a night of trance...

I have learned from somewhere that walking creates the perfect mixture of sugar and oxygen in your body for thinking. I dunno how or why, but I guess all of the great inventors were big on taking walks, like Edison and all those guys. I actually took a walk today, and got some ideas flowing. I don't know if this is a direct result of the walk, but hey, it worked didn't it? Also, I haven't done this, but after watching the dark side of the rainbow (Wizard of Oz with The dark side of the moon music playing over it) I took notice that possibly watching a movie on mute would be a cool way to get ideas. Kinda take themes and feelings and stuff from whats going on in the film. I dunno, it's worth a shot.

It's nothing at all,
It's just a ball.
How silly it looks puffed out and round.
Oh, but how it bounces all around.

You maybe right about somethings, but what about a radio, computer, etc.
These could me very exciting.
