Currently, I'm expanding my tapping skills, and I was wondering as I tap w/ 8 fingers, should I have my R.H. fingers symmetrical with the frets, just as my left? I figure I can use all the same types of articulation, i.e. vibrato, slides, hammer ons, pull offs, things of that nature... Any suggestions?

I don't use 8 finger tapping but one of our instructors, Kevin Taylor has many tutorials on tapping.

Basically yeah... try to get it so that your right hand is perpendicular to the fretboard. If I'm sitting down, I usually shift the guitar over to my right leg so I can get directly over the fretboard.

Ya Ive seen that video. Its really amazing, but its a lot more fingering/tapping/slapping than it is 8 finger tapping.

That's a perfect description for the unique style and technique of this evolving genre by guitar. You may have introduced what will become referred to as "The F.T.S. Technique". I've been watching an upcoming Canadian guitarist named Erik Mongrain. Incredible!!!!!!!!!!! Here's a link to his composition "Air Tap"

Although I like Tapping techniques, it needs to be structured with a balance of dissonance to keep me interested, yet, not overdone. This song by Erik named "Timeless" is one to check out for sure (no tapping, just fingering and slapping on this one), what a gifted musician............
