Pickup questions
Still learning about the guitar, but had a question. When i switch to a single pickup i get a buzzing noise. If the switch is between two pickups there's no noise. What's up with that? Its a strat.
Thanks!

Its called Hum, and it is one of those things that just happens on guitars with single coil pickups (like strats have). I can't think of the exact physics behind it off the top of my head, but its perfectly normal.

Any single-coil pickup will have a fair amount of noise. When you select two pups on your Strat, there is some interraction between them that cancels out a lot of that noise. This partial cancellation also produces that unique Strat sound. A humbucking pickup works on the same principal, but because their coils are much closer together, they sound different.

Also, having other electrical devices nearby will increase hum, especially TVs and Fluorescent lights.

have you tried shielding or stargrounding, this helps block electro magnetic interferance, and so forth and the extra grounding will help bleed off exess static from your pots
