I went to check a local guy play the other night and found what he was playing was what I really dig, and would love to go that route (I liked it and feal comfortable playing it). I was just him on an acoustic, a cool sax player, and a drummer. I was wondering what style is this conciderd to be? He played mostly rock songs with maby 2 country (but they didnt sound country.... it was cool though). I didnt know how to classify what type of music. I didnt want to call it rock without an electric guitar screaming and it sure as hell wasent country. Someone inform this "village idiot" .... :) Thanks

I generally just call bands with a mix of instruments like that a Jam Band.... Unless they play a specific kind of music... But if they're playing a whole bunch of different stuff you can't just label them with a specific genre...

I would call them a Jam Band though... since they seem to be pretty diverse.

Well I guess jam band would sum it up. They played alot of Bob Segar, CCR, Poison, Lenard Skinnard, Pink Floyd, etc. That was what was throwing me off. How about acoustic, rock, jam band...lol

It seems that they are a "Live" version of a studio band, that is to say a little of everything, like for weddings, parties etc... Being well rounded is a good thing, you can learn a great deal from different styles and then incorporate things into your own style. Keep Playin :D
