Yes, I regret to inform you all that Kurt Vonnegut died yesterday. He will be missed by me, if no one else.

You're not alone in your mourning of the grand ol' man. I think the state of American letters took a shot yesterday. "God bless you, Mr. Rosewater..." :(

RIP Mr. Vonnegut. You will surely be missed.

I went to a lecture he gave at Pitt University a long time ago and he was hilarious and thoughtful. I loved Slaughterhouse 5 but I think that Breakfast of Champions was my favorite. If you're not familiar with his work, check out some of his short work too. Welcome to the Monkey House is another one that I read time and time again.

For an entertaining illustration of how societies get manipulated for dubious purposes, "Sirens Of Titan" makes Kafka look like an amateur. Those Tralfamadorians are at it again! :D

My favorite quote...."I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different." Kurt Vonnegut.
