I was just having a few beers and banging on my old guitar and thought how cool would it be to have a Guitar Tricks Convention. Pick a central destination. Would have to be able to get there by car from the U.S. main land cause I don't fly and it's my idea. :D Rent or arrange some big hall or old warehouse with lots of outlets and just party and jam for a few days. Trade tricks and learn from each other. Bring a few pieces of your favorite gear, put together some premade background tracks and just mess around playing over them solo or as groups. Have a few beers or whatever you prefer and just have fun.

Just a brain fart I had to let out.

Novel idea...Leedog had a thread about just where it would be held a long time ago. I forget where the average ended up...I think it was corn field in Iowa at some point.

Interesting thought- how about this? Why not have multiple ones in various locations so that our world-wide buds could partipate too without having to make a major sojourn? Do a nice multiple audio/video conference at each location so that we could all be live at the same time? One massive world-wide jam. At one moment, have everyone hit a G major chord so we could set some sort of world record. 'Chords across the world'

"We are the guitar players, we are the world..." strumming and singing along, heads swaying side to side...."Chords for Peace" Ohh ohh, how about the 'Peace - A - Chords..."

I like that idea. Even open it up for everyone. See if we could have one sustained chord going around the globe at one time.

Okay, that's it. I need sleep.... :)

I was thinking about the GT convention thing again the other day. I came to the conclusion (again) that it has to happen or my life will have been for nothing.

dude, do you have any idea what kind of worldwide media coverage this would have? Like, if this ever DID happen, it would be HUGE. It'd be like woodstock all over again, just more extreme.

...except in the grand scheme of things, there really isnt THAT many die-hard GT people who would do it. so it wouldnt be that huge.

dang it. I just buzz-killed myself.

What, the convention or the 'Chord heard 'round the world'? I think they might both get a bit of coverage since I don't know of any one else who would have done it before. I still like the idea (granted it's only been an hour or two since it first came up...but still :D )

This could be done easily if GT were to be properly sponsored.
GT could be an exhibitor at a convention like this one coming to Long Beach, CA, in September. All the Booth would need is a couple of GT Instructors and a Spokesperson to attend the show and Wahlah, you have a GT Convention.

Oh, come now, we all know that Faulconbridge, NSW Australia is the centre of the universe... :p

But seriously, if it was in the US or Canada or UK or wherever and during the uni holidays, I wouldn't rule out paying up for a plane trip and coming to see you guys. I could make a world tour out of it!
