Okay, heres the laydown. I just got a new Jackson Dinky with double humbuckers. I was stupid enough to put 54-11 strings on it even though it had a Floyd Rose. So as you can imagine, the tremelo unit was like 80 feet off the body.

So I called up this music store and they said that 42-9s were the best way to go with a floyd rose. I hit myself and took it to the store. When I got there, they said I should the guitar setup (like tuned up and fixed (tremelo, truss, all that)) for like 80 bucks along with getting the new strings on it.

The only difference I see so far is my speed has increased a little. I know that you need a setup once a year, but do you think it was worth it?

Yes, you might think thats the only difference, buts its properly intonated, has good action, floyd is set up properly, and there's minimal fret buzz. Just make sure you use the same gauge of strings they used when you change em.
