how do i read notes and play on guitar?

not tab, but like notes on piano

guitar has six strings and each has a C before the 12th fret
so if i see a note like the middle C in piano, which C fret do i press on the guitar?

can anyone teach me how to read notes and play on guitar or is there a tutorial i can check out?

I would suggest look ahead a bit in the piece you are reading and then choose a position that accommodates where the notes fall physically so you are stretching half way across the guitar.
