I have a bit of a list for this one...

#Tim Commerford, formerly of RATM and Audioslave: while I was playing bass, this guy was my hero. Groovy, subtle, solid, funky, jazzy, flashy - he can do it all.

#Roger Waters

#Rick Laird from the Mahavishnu Orchestra

#Les Claypool (can't believe I was the first one to mention him!) from Primus

#Amen to Geddy Lee and John Myung, killer players.

#Geezer Butler

#John Patitucci

No disrespect meant to Cliff Burton, but some of his solos are basically just guitar solos played on a bass... not what I look for in a bass solo at all. But for the most part, he's an excellent player, and definitely one of the best musicians Metallica has ever had.
"It's all folk music... I ain't never heard no horse sing!"
- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

If at first you don't succeed, you are obviously not Chuck Norris.
