Heard these guys & gals for the 1st time yesterday live on the radio here. They're a quartet: 2 violins, a cello, and a viola. After that they're really hard to categorize though...jazz & (contemporary) classical, blues & rock...it's nice to hear stuff like nothing you've ever heard before.
Though highly trained (all Julliard alumni), they are certainly not a typical classical group in any sense, using percussive strikes on their instruments, improv, amplification, and just unexpected musical twists and approach.
