Hi all,
Been a whie since I've posted any music. Been busy as hell with babies;-) Anyway, this is my first recording in about 6 months and it's my favourite track so far.
Please let me know what you think so far - I still need to re-record some of the lead parts (especially the neo-classical part in the middle) and a bass line will be added sometime soon.
Hope you like it!!

For anyone who's interested I used the following gear:

Jem 6 string (rhythms and leads)
EBMM Petrucci sig - 7 string (for rhythms only)
Rocktron Prophesy II (guitar preamp and effects)
UAD-1 dsp card for effects, EQ and compression
Cubase SX3 for recording, editing and mixing
DFHS for drums

That was awesome man. Your technical ability and ability to right melodies is superb. My only complaint would be that the drums seemed a little overbearing throughout the entire thing. I struggled to hear guitars somewhat. But, I am listening on crappy speakers, so what do I know.

Anyways, great job. Great composition.

As always, technically superb!

Even at this stage of a draft mix, it sounds so energetic, passionate! This is a mark of a great composition.

Yeah, I can tell you are really striving for a change in compositional direction - yet keeping al the stuff you do so well- the SICK backing gtrs, the octopus-like shredding :)

some of the melodic runs reminds me of Iron Maiden ....YEAH!!! but overall, it is the unmistakable sound of SUPERHUMAN.

Enjoyed it through and through. can;t wait for the 'completed' version and the final mix. (though I really think you can just leave it as it is...AWESOME!)

Thanks for the feedback guys, yeah, I agree the drums are a little too loud. I ran them through a compressor during the mix down and it seemed to have 'pumped up the volume'. The guitars will have a lot more depth when the bass is added and I will definitely be bringing the drums back a tad. Thanks for taking the time to check it out, your comments are much appreciated!

The only thing I would like to hear is those leads come to the front a little more. Sometimes they get lost in the mix and it makes me sad. Basically I hinge on your every note so I wanna hear them all. :p

Hey Magic, thanks for checking it out. You're right too, some of the lead parts are a little drowned, anyway, I boosted those parts along with another drum fix so things sound a bit better now.

Sounds great! there were a few places that felt like there was too much going on, and I kind of got lost with what I was trying to listen to. Other than that, you might want to give the lead a bit more of a midrange EQ boost rather than much of a volume boost. I might would also back the gain off a touch on the rhythm guitars. They get a bit muddy and fuzzy at times. That's just nitpicking though . Excellent work as usual!

Yeah, I know what you mean, I've pretty much decided to record the whole album at home then bring the untreated wav files to a pro studio and have an engineer mix and master everything. This will prbably give the best results and also be the most productive.
I'm no engineer so I'll stick to what I know best - hitting the record bitton and playing :)
The only mixing I did on this track was a bit of panning and levels, I'm not even going to attempt to EQ. All of the guitar sounds are 100% dry except the lead parts which have a bit of delay, chorus and reverb. Drusm are totaly dry too except for abit of compression on the kick and snare -which I can't seem to get right. There was compression on the rhythm tracks too but I put that before the preamp to allow each chop and pick to be 100% clear.
Thanks for checking PRS, always goo to get your opinions and comments!

Not bad at all.
The composition is great. The leads are incredibly clean and listenable. It's intense. Great work.

Hey Superhuman!

I think this track is FANTASTIC! and yes it is your best so far. I've been listening to your stuff heaps latley!

I think it all sounds great for a non mastered track.

I reckon drums are good, maybe some reverb snare would help. Maybe too much compression on the kick. But hey, what can I say, you get a better drum sound than me :o

Great licks, the lead is great!
