I don't really think Metallica is "hyped"... I think it's just one of those things where Metallica is the recognizable name. If you ask 10 average people who Metallica are they'll all know.... If you ask 10 average people who Megadeth is and maybe 2 or 3 will really know... Megadeth is one of those gritty bands that prides itself on gaining a fan base by actually touring and putting out albums... Where as Metallica has such a big name now they can just market their name and get exposure...

So I think it's more about the differences in marketing rather and the fact that Metallica is such a well known band... Not neccessarily that everyone holds them in such high regard... Especially after St. Anger...
