I have been playing insincerely since I won't say, but recently got inspired and bought my first ever electric guitar(s) after having owned a nice old Gibson Hummingbird and a Guild 12 since (I won't say).
My playing history is long but with long layoffs, and a reluctance to work hard.
Way back in highschool/college I almost broke through my mediocrity by playing in a band ( using a friend's Jaguar) and practicing hours and hours a day to keep up with my very talented bandmates.
But of course since I had no natural ability, a tin ear, and was too lazy/fearful to learn music theory, I sort of stagnated as a mediocre flat picker guy that could occasionally rip off a few good country type licks. But other than the pure pleasure of knowing a few things really well, I have been in this rut forever.
So subscribing here and getting two electrics and a small (Microcube) amp, I hope to get just as mediocre as an electric guitarist. But it would be nice to actually break out a bit now that I am old enough to be my ex-girlfriend's father.
What's the best thing about having a new electric guitar? It pisses off the neighbors.
What'd I get? I ordered a PRS Santana SE, but I went crazy when the amp arrived first, so I ran down to the store and got a cheap-ass Squire Telecaster to play while I waited for the PRS.
The PRS is really a nice instrument, and worth waiting for.
OK, that's about as verbose as anyone can be, eh, on their first posting?
