Music

Music is a form of expression that evokes emotion. For me I can find something in an instrumental, a vocal led piece, a harmony... the rhythm of my feet when I'm walking.... whatever. I based a riff of a tune on what I could hear of my neighbours shouting at each other muffled through a wall... all sorts of stuff. Music can, and has, moved me to tears...

I started playing guitar because I saw Clapton when I was 8 and it's all I ever wanted to do - the guitar spoke to me. In my teens, I thought it would be a good route to the girls (and it was/is!) and that was a bonus. I write music now because I find there are things that I don't have the words for, and I sort of use my guitar as another voice - I feel more confident playing for a crowd than I would speaking to one...

And, I still do OK with the fairer sex... I give the guitar credit for that

Ha, me and the keyboard player go to parties together. I love using the "Ya I'm in a Band" line.

For me music is a riff/chord progression that talks to me or lyrics that express an emotion, life experience or feeling inside of me. That's not to say that songs that do nothing for me aren't music because they hopefully speak to someone else. I can appreciate the technical aspects of some songs even if they don't extract some type of emotion from me but that's probably because I play an instrument. As for others knocking what you like. Who cares.
