My new amp came yesterday and it seems pretty sweet although i havent got the chance to crank it yet. It's a Carvin MTS 3212. 100 watts, all tube, 2x12 combo. Anyways, at certain frequencies, the reverb tank seems to be vibrating and making an unpleasant rattle. Any ideas from you tech guys (yea u know who u are!)? Any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

One unavoidable problem with combo amps is the fact that the amp is subjected to some vibration from the speakers. The results can range from buzzy tube filaments to uncontrollable feedback, to rattling reverb springs.

You may be able to reduce the coupling from the cab to the reverb pan by putting some thick felt between the pan and the cab, and under the heads of the mounting screws.

Thanks LATS. Is it cool to take off the reverb tank so i can possibly put some rubber washers or something in there? I don't wanna mess anything up...not so soon at least lol

Even better than felt IMO would be to remount the tank onto some rubber isolation pads. Either way LATS has the proper approach for the fix. You have to decouple the tank in some fashion.

You could drill the mounting holes a bit larger and install rubber grommets. I had to do that on my Traynor. I took it back to the dealer several times before figuring this solution out myself. I tried a rubber pad between the tank and cabinet and it helped but, it still rattled at higher volumes. The grommets cured the problem.
Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!
