I'm my opinion the best way to memorize the notes on the fretboard is to simply draw 6 equally spaced lines long on a piece of paper. These reperesent the strings. Then draw 12 frets acroos the long lines. You can do this in microsoft paint so you can print as many as you like. I put several "fretbalrds" on a singe sheet.

Then start writing the names of the notes. Try and skip around randomly. Mix it up and befroe you know it, you'll know it :D

You don't need software man... unless you want to get a software metronome.

On memorising frets, I've used cards that have the fret number on one side and then the notes of the 6 strings in order on the other - that seems to work...

On scales check out the lessons here, probably starting with the pentatonics.

Speed will come dude. Play to a metronome/drum/click/whatever and concentrate on clean rather than fast, and you'll get there. No matter what the software says, there are no shortcuts. If you want to play like a demon you're going to have to practice... a lot.
