I have spend alot of time reading through old posts, from 2000 to recent.
Alot of the people that came and asked for help are long gone. some with 1-10 posts total. not that a post count has anything at all to do with learning guitar but, It almost seems like they gave up completely. Hard to fathom someone not coming back to this site if they were still playing. always something to learn here.
Ill never learn it all! haha

Yeah, I think it's mostly the nature of forums in general. Some people join a forum, feel totally at home, and stick around for a long time. Others join, get about 10 posts in, get bored with it, and leave. Still others sign up to ask a single question and then bolt.

Yeah, I agree... Which is what makes this place pretty nice... it's a nice place in the corner of the internet that's not polluted by ignorant people with narrow minds... Everyone here shares the same passion for guitar knowledge... It's pretty nice. This is the only forum that I am a member of and the only one I post on but I've never seen or heard of a forum as good as this one. With the amount of information on the site and the willingness of everyone to help each other... It's a great place.

Like jolly said that... some people show up to get an answer to a specific question and never come back.

I joined up strictly for the lessons and then lurked in the forum for awhile before I made my first post. Not to start another "GT Lovefest", but I joined the community (forum) because of the positive nature of most posts here, the warmth and support that everyone seems to give each other, and the fact that everyone seems to be equally obsessed with the same thing. That, my friends, is a beautiful thing.

I think I probably initially signed up just for that reason and ended up liking what I saw. And whaddaya know, I'm still here. I may not have that many posts for the time I've been here, but I still come and read everyone else's almost every day. Cheers to GT!

That's what happened with me in terms of GT and the writers' forum, respectively.

Actually, I think I joined because I had a question about something, then I found out that people here were (and are) nice, so I stayed.

Actually I found the forum before I saw the "tricks". Looking at my join date you'll see it was right after Dimebag was shot. While using a search engine, a thread here about the incident was one of the results. So I felt like expressing my thoughts on it, and registered. Bittersweet I guess, but been here ever since.

I'm still around. :) I'm just in such a newbie state that until I get better with switching cords and playing some licks, I don't really have a lot of questions or input as of yet. In due time though :)
Thanks,
Dan

I'm sure some get intimidated not knowing what to ask or how to ask it. Others just have a guitar as a dust collector.

I signed up cause I was fairly new to guitar and needed to learn a lot of information from technique to proper nominclature (sp?.) I kept coming here and putting my 2 cents in and asked questions and here I am. Pretty happy where I am with guitar and I plan to keep exceling till I'm 80 years old. :)

As you can see, I'm an old schooler, been around here a long time. Although I don't post as much as I did, I still drop by just to see what's going on.

I originally joined just to ask a question or two, and got sucked into the randomness that is guitartricks. Fun site, and hopefully I'll see you all around this wonderful world known as the Internet.
