Wow, is it getting hot in here or is it just me? Chill fellas. They call it theory because it's, well, theory.

Axemaster, the only one doing any badmouthing here is you.

I've studied a lot of music theory, and your definition of a mode is wrong; it is not a matter of opinion. You can either recognize that and learn from the debate, or you can continue to berate the people who disagree with you and call their responses insulting names. If you choose the latter, though, and continue to insult people, then I can guarantee your stay here will be in jeopardy. Music theory has nothing to do with playing ability, and for you to make that connection is ludicrous. Please, stop being belligerent. The reason I'm the moderator here is because I know the subject well. Is that not credential enough?

Please, calm down; this is just a music theory sub-forum.

For some reason Fruit Cake comes to mind as a better fit here. Besides there's an option to put "the icing on the cake".
Can anyone direct me with some instructions regarding the listening post?
It would be a good thing to post some of the hybrid and altered scale improvisations coming up soon with sound to reference them. Also some tricks in making a smooth transition when changing Keys in a song.
Thanks

I am closing this thread. It is no longer useful.

In general, we do not permit ongoing arguments between members on this site. Eventually, somebody will have to leave.

I have the ultimate authority over this forum. I don't often exercise that authority. But, it is my job to decide two things:

1. is it necessary to the ongoing harmony of the site that somebody be forced to leave

2. if so, who?

We are still on point 1. I don't know that it is necessary that somebody leave. But by next week it may be.

In my official capacity,
I would recommend the following to those involved in this heated discussion:

1. re-read the GT rules thread
http://www.guitartricks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10453

2. avoid an argument during the next week

3. in future, try saying things like: "one way of looking at it is this...."
