Okay heres my plan if i dont "make it ". I will become a teacher but do i need to take a grade 12 calculus to get into a good university. If i needed to I could do it, but I HATE math.
I hear you should have math because anywhere likes math.

I was wondering if anyone knows if i could get by with high music marks and decent english marks.

Thanks

I LIVE IN ONTARIO,CANADA

Don't quote me on this, but I thiiiiiink you can get into university without pre-cal, but the catch is that you need 2 different grade 12 english credits. This is assuming you're in Canada, which I'm pretty sure I read you are.

Purely my own opinion, but I'd avoid teaching in any public school.
The wages are pathetic compared to what you can make in the private sector.

This is true. I know plenty of teachers and they all say the same thing. If they had to do it again, they would teach at a private school for the money. However, there are a few idealistic ones who don't mind the poor wages because they want to feel like they're making a difference with kids whose parents can't afford to send them to private school.

Guess it comes down to what's more important to you.

I teach a bit, but only privately. I wouldn't teach in school for the folowing reasons (based on the UK system):

Poor Pay
Poor attitude from students
regulation on what you must and/or must not teach

I don't know how that translates to you.

As it is, I charge what I like (within reason obviously), if I have a student who doesn't want to learn I suddenly become too busy to teach him, and I teach what I like according to what I think is important and what the student is interested in learning.

As for maths - I only just got a pass, and I went on to do a University degree no problem....

I see you are from Canada. I live in Canada too and in my province (QuƩbec) to teach at a certain level of education, you need at least a degree in the next higher on.

Meaning, if you want to teach in highschool, you need at least a College degree. If you want college ..... yep university degree required.

Also, don`t only look into the whole money thing, look at the benefits package. Teacher in Quebec have a benefit package that no private sector can offer. I don`t know how it is in other provinces tho.

If you can handle the kids in highschool, you`ll probably be able to handle anyone in the private sector lol The others are right, it`s an ungrateful job sometimes but my friend is a teacher in highschool (history) and when you are able to connect with them, he says it can be the most rewarding one too.

If you want to be an education major you have to have a "c" or higher in all your general education courses.

All right so i dont know if i read right but general consensus is math is probably what i need.

the problem isnt that i can't do math because i can easily get 80ish if i actually tryed but its just so boring.

If i absolutely have to ill do it though

Where do you live, what school do you want to teach at?
