Just read the sticky on this subject. If i am reading this correctly a progression can be constructed for any note in the scale from which it is rooted?

Also a progression can be created by using a root note and a note from other scales?

Excuse me for being dumb but i didn't know this and i have an 'o' level in music and a grade three on the fiddle. As a guitarist i am self taught so everyday is a guitar lesson. And todays lesson is. Experiment with different chords around the root note of E

Now that is a cool thread and very informative. Big UP Jolly. Nice one.

um asically i think were talkin diatonic theory.
if were in c ionion (majour)
the notes are c d e f g a b

the first chord is c majour seven c e g and b
the second chord is b minor seven note d f a and c
e minor e g b d

dito. this gives you seven chords. and each hord has a mode built on it eg the 6th chord is a minor seven a c e g. and the aolion mode is built on it.

hope this helps, ask if you need

In addition to what Jolly wrote, I would like to say this:
Pitch Axis is used to construct chord progressions. Basically you take a pitch and you make it the “home pitch”, and choose the scales according to the chords that are being played in the backing.
For example let’s say that we decided to use C as the pitch.

You can play a simple chord progression like this :
Cmaj/ Cm/ C7

The scales that you can play are: C major, C minor, C mixolydian
Or……………………………….................C Lydian, C dorian, C mixolydian

Keys you went thru…C, Cm, F
……………………..........G, Bb, F

Pitch axis is a powerful tool for Direct Modulation and Modal Interchange.
.
Someday I`ll play like in my dreams.
