They made a great many changes to the game, all of which I like. It's more demanding graphics-wise, so it's harder to play on a sucky computer like mine.

I only have civ II, it's a fun game I guess, but after a while the enemys get too smart and powerful, and you pretty much have to turn on the cheat mode to win. then you create a few hundred nukes, and blow the crap out of everything, meanwhile your scientists warn you of global warming, but you don't really care.. you just continue to blow stuff up until everybody dies (including your allys!) that's what I like to do in that game..

Fast games are possible in Civ 2, they just require a little more skill than longer games. Shorter games are possible in civ 3&4 if you don't micromanage.

Actually, I used to think the same thing... then I built my own computer. It cost me probably about $300 in its original form and I've not spent too much more on it and can run just about anything.
