... Chicago is considered heavy metal, there is seriously something wrong with the music industry. What group of people decides which bands go under which genre of music these days? They need to be fired.

Yeah, that was a few years ago. I remember the outcry. I have no idea who creates the categories and then places bands in them. Chicago? Metal? Tull? Metal? I don't think so. I suspect it's the same old guys in ill-fitting suits sitting in boardroom somewhere saying "well, if it ain't Como or Sinatra, it must be metal..."

BTW, not making fun of Como or Sinatra. Happen to dig some of that crazy, swinging stuff. Can you cats dig that?

Reminds me of back in Jr. High School when I was just getting into guitar and thus more guitar oriented music, specifically Lynyrd Skynyrd. Told someone I liked them, and was told in a rather insulting tone, "ahhh...they're a bunch of headbangers!"
No wait, even better...I think they said, "ahhh...he's one of those headbangers!"

John Mayer's TRY! album is up for rock album of the year... Which is good because most rock in the "rock" genre these days is more commonly know as (expletive)...... or pop music as some would call it.

Personally i preffer Terry Pratchetts view. He calls it " Music with rocks in"

Mr Pratchett is a british author who has written more books than spandau ballet has had hits. Oh crapola i mentioned a sissy band. I must go and hit my head against a wall, be right back..............................................................................................................................................................................................

Ok where was i? What seems to be happening is bands of the 70's are being pidgeon holed by kids who weren't even born then. Well that's what i think anyhoo. I remember the 70's like it was only yesterday. Getting beaten up at school running around in the wind and rain and being shouted at by a sadistic games teacher ( that's sports to our american friends) Actually i like your school system better. A friend of mine in NY state says here kids get so much time off school they have to go to summer camp??? Umm what's that.

True, that! And a literal interpretation of the phrase 'soul music'. Gotta be my favourite author!
