Sometimes it's good to check into some lesser known brands, you might get more bang for your buck. You may find a Washburn or a Japanese made Jackson that might have better action (less effort when pressing down on the strings) or may hold tune longer than other brands. If you're serious about playing and want satisfaction from your hard labor, look into used gear. My first guitar was a used Hamer that I bought for $550.00 from Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd, back in 1978. I sounded better than most of my friends the first year with those Seymour Duncan pickups compared to their Hondo crap guitars. The downfall is that everybody wants to play your guitar.
My advice: Buy crap, play crap!!!!!! Save your money and buy something you want to play. It will be worth every penny and now you have to learn to play it.
