If you're just beinning you're not going to know the difference between a good guitar and a bad one.... So just get whatever makes the most sense financially for yourself... As you start to play and learn more you can see whehter or not oyu want to stick with it... A lot of people go out and buy guitars thinking that it's so easy to learn... then they put it in the closet after they realize that it actually requires practice and some natural talent.... So don't buy anything too expensive... A Squire strat pack is the best place to start for most. So go ahead and pick up a Squire Strat pack.......... that's about as basic as you can get... I started on one of those and I still get mine out everynow and then and play with it...
Everyone has slightly different tastes when it comes to gear though. If you take a liking to the style of Fender guitars... don't let a Gibson-lover convince you otherwise... remember that music is about you... it's about your expression. It doesn't matter what someone else uses or recommends unless it's something that you like or are comfortable with. In the end it's your money and it's going to be your guitar... so get the one you want.
But any beginner guitar pack would be adaquet for you to learn on.
