If your just starting out both the squier and ibanez starter packs are ok, but honestly you might want to think about buying a used Mexi Strat and a cheap fender frontman amp to start out.

All depends upon budget but the low end stuff can be frustrating to get setup right. All in all, try before you buy. I have bought cheap stuff and loved it and expensive stuff and hated it.

Just returned a Marshall MG 30 for a cheaper Fender Frontman 25r. Marshall shoulda been better but everyones ear/tastes are different.
