First of all practice at least 1 hour a day! Second, your transition speed willl increase as you practice and so will your ability to stretch your fingers. I have small fingers, and when I first started playing i thought that'd i'd never be able able to play anything, but now...
Basically you just need to practice, practice, practice. try to learn all the notes and chords before you start learning the sclaes. it'll make it easier. playing with a metrenome is a good way to start. remember: accuracy is more important then speed. ONce you can everything perfectly at a slow pace, then try and play faster.
