i have a yamaha magicstomp in my effects loop with an equalizer. i also have a small amp coming out of the magicstomp in the loop for stereo effects. when i disengage the effects loop i still have effects coming out of small amp....so again i ask, wtf? should not everything in the loop be off...not heard(small amp included) when i turn the effects loop off??

I think it just turns off the Return part of the loop, not the send. The signal is still going through the loop which is why it's still coming through the smaller amp....

I may be wrong though, it's happend 3 times in my life. :D My conclusion is just what made sense to me, I don't know it for a fact....

Anyway, I'd like to see some other responses to this.......

It may be done differently in some amps, but usually the FX loop switch sends either the signal before the loop or after the loop to the power amp. It doesn't shut off anything in the loop - just bypasses it.
