practice and metronome usage..slowly gain speed, I learned a lot from watching and hearing James Hetfield play, then again, I use his rhythm techniques, if your looking for speed, the guys from Dragonforce are pretty damn fast, but John Petrucci has more taste and just as good of speed it seems.
