Angus young, once I listened to all the music of the seventies and especially the punk bands then while waiting for a mate, this sound so ore inspiring came out of a small window in a shed, then out came the biggest nastiest biker I have ever seen, I plucked up courage to ask what he was listening to and he just grinned walked off then seconds later this hulk of man thrust a tape into my hand and said,

NO COMING BACK AFTER LISTENING TO THIS.

It was highway to hell, fanfu**ingtastic, got my first guitar that very christmas an electric Hondo II, les paul copy, and as they say the rest is history.

The biker was my mates fierce older brother, who still takes credit to this day that I play guitar because of him, is he right? could be.
While I'm sat here, Playin', I'm tryin' to free my mind!

Lennon/Harrison/McCartney started it.

Jeff Buckley made it a passion.

And Slash has been my biggest inspiration.

Mark Tremonti

He can shred (Pity For A Dime, Inside Us All), be heavy (Unforgiven), be articulate (Faceless Man, What's This Life For), and just hooked me with his playing.

Well, John Bonham's energy, as a child I was very much enthralled by this man's ability to totally take control of a situation. There will never be another Drummer quite like him, and because of him, even since I was three years old, I used to bang on my mom's pots and pans as if there was no tomorrow. And just like every great band, you can't help but admire each member almost (equally.) I tried to sing like Robert Plant as a kid, but to know avail, and then there was Jimmy Page. This man was awesome (and he still is.) I guess throughout my life I never thought that I could ever come as close to his proficiency, but it's just something you keep working at. There's something about this man that has increased my enthusuasm for the guitar as the years go by.

And for that, I'll be forever greatful.

I heard a recording of Jimi Hendrix playing the star spangled banner when I was 10, from that moment on I knew what I wanted to do with my life.

I think it was Pink Floyd and David Gilmour that got me hooked. I remember getting the Wall album and being totally amazed by the phrasing and the feeling behind his playing.

Yeah, Gilmour never did anything flashy, but it's the feeling that matters, man . . . the feeling!

i was listening to lots of queen and ac/dc
and i wanted to start to play, but somehow didnt
and then one day i heard "made in japan" by deep purple
and the highway star solo blew me away..
i think it is really one of the best solos ever written (it was in the 15 place in guitar world's top 100 solos issue)
and than i got my first classic guitar, and i have been playing for 3 years now, since this unforgetable moment
"They think im crazy..
but i know better.
It is not I who am crazy.
It is I who am mad.."

Ahh I was around 10 years old (im 17 now) My father brought home The Extremist Album by Joe Satriani. I was sitting in the room when he played it on the stereo and i went "whoa!" Goosebumps crept through me as I listened to Joe .....Three months later Ive heard all of his previous albums and i thought "Wow I want to play too!" Come Christmas I got my very first Yamaha Acoustic guitar ... :)

...back in 1968, I was listening to Gordon Lightfoot's first album for the umpteenth time, and I noticed that something strange was happening in the background. After a while, I figured out that 'Red" Shea was adding counterpoint to Gord's vocal lines by playing harmonics on his acoustic guitar.

I bought my first guitar that October, and by next July I was playing lead guitar for the house band at a local club.

Kirk Hammet chunking the solo in One(And justice for all)
