He uses his guitar and his floyd rose tremelo :D I think he does use a chorus pedal for solos, that or he has his wah wah pedal all the way toe down.

Heres how to do it from the man himself : http://youtube.com/watch?v=w9Mzq3LcL9I

On his Earlier Cd's, he uses a Randall R100 (I think) which is a high gain amp. What he uses now is his signature Krank Krankenstien amp, which is a gain whore. You don't have to use effects, but it does color it up nicely.

Here's him plugging striaght into his Krank when Krank was still sprucing it up:

But yes, in that video, he uses a delay pedal, as did he use one for Cemetary Gates. If you listen to F***ing Hostile, he doesn't use delay, he has his wah engauged and possibly his chorus pedal as well.

Check these sites out as well, neither show his most recent setup though, which includes his Krank Amp and signature wah wah.

What I'm surprised at is that the mods havn't made one of these ''how do I do Pinch Harmonics'' threads a sticky........ Seems it gets asked at least once a month. :D

Well, a pinch harmonic and a Dime Squeal (little circles R goes here :D ) are 2 different things. But I agree, Someone should make a guide on ph's and make it a sticky. I know I asked the question a few months after signup.

Digitech Whammy should be mentioned at this point. Other than that I'd say it's all high-output pickups and insane distortion from the amp. Actually, the hard part (at least for me) is sustaining the harmonic while bending it as long as he does. I guess it depends mostly on the quality of your tremolo.
Impendance is fruitfull
while the buttons are circled.

As you said, its from high output pickups, loads of gain, but also Dime used neck-through bodies which makes the notes sustain a lot longer compared to a bolt on or set neck (though I've heard people say they've played set necks that sustain longer than neck-through's)

Yeah, in case it hasn't been clarified just yet, he gets a lot of squeals not only from typical pinch harmonics with vibrato, but also while the tremelo is way down hitting a natural harmonic (often on the more obscure frets...2nd, 4th, and in between frets) then almost simultaneously bringing the tremelo up to the desired pitch, and thus a wailing scream. And yes, some of the "step on a cat" screams are only fretted notes played normally while stomping on a Whammy pedal set 2 octaves up..."Becoming" being the most recognizable example.

thats sick. i would advise anyone interested in that video to check out the little instructional thing herman li from dragonforce gives on their weird guitar sounds in various songs. some are pretty self-explanitory, but others i thought where aweosme as hell.

as i understand it (from a video of Dime doing a short demo while setting up in tokyo)

He dives the floyd rose till the strings are almost completly slack, then taps a natural harmonic then dumps on the tension. saw a video of it on you tube. do a search dime squeel and you may find it if memory serves me right.
