I finally decided to see what my PODxt sounds like through my Valveking. First off, my PODxt has v3.0 firmware, the metal amp add-on pack, and the bass expansion pack. My Valveking 112 has JJ preamp tubes, Ruby power amp tubes, and an Eminence Wizard speaker.

I have 3 main patches that I use on the XT. My clean patch uses the Plexi 45 model, my crunch/vintage distortion uses the Plexi 100 model, and my high gain patch uses the Moder Hi-Gain model. When playing the XT through an amp, I've always had a big problem with recreating what I hear in the studio. Not the case anymore. Somehow, I was able to match my recording tones almost perfectly. I set the POD to "Combo Pwr Amp", and turned off the cabinet emulation, and tweaked the post EQ a touch, and I was there!

Anyway, just thought I'd pass on my new tone discovery.

Yea, I hate when I run my pod through my amp and its not the same as headphones. Glad you found the loop hole :) .

it is amazing what a little tweak can do!! i have a yamaha magicstomp and it is a tone sucker in front of my amp (also the volume knob on it affects loudness even when pedal is off ) ....in the effects loop it is a totally different
animal....the volume knob on the magicstomp has no effect when pedal is off(i don't mean when effects loop is off but that too) and my tone is unchanged :D glad you got it worked out!!!

Have you updated your XT to the new 3.0 firmware? They added the all mighty "modern hi-gain" model from the POD 2.0. It's not exact, but damn does it sound good! I've got 3 patches I'd like to send you once I get them on my computer for you to check out. Keep an eye out for the e-mail ;)

The Peavey Valvekings really are some nice amps, and you can't beat the price:tone ratio.
