hi,

i am new to the guitar scene and trying to learn my way around the electric guitar.

i am wondering.........if i have a guitar that has 2 pickups at the bridge, 1 in middle and 1 at neck..........will it give it more of a grungy sound then a guitar that has 2 at bridge, 1 in middle and 2 at neck?

i like the grungy sound and want to be sure of what guitar is better before i buy just any one.

i was looking at the fender "obey " model. the guy at guitar center told i would get just as good of a sound out of that one versus the ibanez rg120.

any one know?

uh, a grundgy sound can really be made on any guitar, regardless of the pickup configuration.

I personally would go with the H-S-H one, (H for humbucker, which is what those two singlecoils are called when they're bound together.) as it is more versitile if and when you want to play anything else.

It's not that the more pickups the guitar have the more powerfull it will sound, as far as I know there is no guitar that has a switch of "turn them all on" the switch works for turning them on individually and getting different sounds.

The double pick up (Humbucker) gives you a more full thick sound compared to a Single coil, both kind of pickups are usefull for many purposes there's not such thing as useless on this matter, that only depends on your style of music you wanna play.

If you are into a powerfull round full sound, humbucker on bridge position it's your bag... maybe later you can get a higher output pick up for more edge and punch on your sound (high output pickups are used alot by guy like Dimebag Darrel, Zack Wilde and many other metalheads).

Make a little research on DiMarzio, Seymur Duncan, EMG or any other manufacturer website so you can have a clear vision of the market offers.

And try all the pick ups on you next guitar... it's fun, I love the sound of a badass humbucker over a big distortion... (chag chag chag ca chaaaaaaaaaan) it's great but, experiment... you may find something you like besides that tone.

Cool, I've never heard live a spider II but if it's as responsive as my POD XT live, must sound pretty good, I don't know if you can tweak the efects much on the spider amp, but line 6 does some pretty cool gear.

Bout the guitar, I'm not a Ibanez fan but it sure looks like a nice axe man.

Congrats on you buy.

Line 6 Pods and Line 6 amps are apples and oranges. :D

Well, aside from the fact that if you can get a sound on the amp, the pod has the same settings.
