I'm looking to get a new guitar, maybe a Fender or Ibanez and am wondering which shop online I should go to.

with out any hesitation sweet water dot com (all one word). Not the cheapest but defiantly the best in terms of customer service.

if you want cheap hit up eBay

I ordered my guitar from sameday music, they were fine and they're prices are low and you can usually get free shipping from them too. I have only ordered stuff from there twice but it has been fine both times. Musiciansfriend.com seems popular but I have never ordered from them.

I've gotten 2 from them, an Ibanez and an Epiphone. The Ibanez came with a messed up volume knob, but they gave me no problems replacing it at no cost. And the Epiphone was an MS exclusive, which they often have, but was a great deal and had no problems with it. Although I've never ordered from them, I also hear good things about Carvin stuff.

I have had many bad experiences with musiciansfriend.

I try to avoid them unless they are offering a real once in a life time bargain and even then am very careful to make sure it is what I think it is ! !
