Strings for Ovation type guitar

I picked up an off brand acoustic electric guitar recently. I've tried acoustic medium gauge strings but playing blues make the bends pretty difficult. Can someone suggest a set of strings, size, flatwound mabey, coated, brand etc. so I can get a bluesy tone and decent volume with? Thanks, Dave
